We’re fortunate to operate our cruises in one of the most amazing wilderness areas on the planet. Inscribed as UNESCO World Heritage in 1982, it is one of the last remaining expanses of temperate wilderness, covering 1.6 million hectares - that's 20% of Tasmania.

We proudly hold EcoStar environmental accreditation, highlighting our commitment to not only minimal impact operation but advocacy on behalf of Tasmania’s wild places. Of the utmost importance to us, is the idea that our guests cruise with us and take away with them, a truer understanding of the values of the UNESCO Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area.
Wildcare
Gordon River Cruises is a 'Natural Partner' of Wildcare, a non-profit organisation that supports a number of groups statewide, making positive contributions to preserving and maintaining our native flora and fauna.
More specifically, we're the founding funding partner for the Wildcare gift fund dedicated to helping Tasmania's penguins.
Biodiversity support
As part of a long-standing commitment, we raise funds for the effort to save the critically endangered Orange Bellied Parrot, a native bird species that migrates between western Tasmania and Victoria and is under significant threat. In addition, we are a proud supporter of the Tasmanian Raptor Refuge, located in southern Tasmania. We regularly see White Bellied Sea Eagles while on our cruises, so the ability to contribute to the health of the species, along with other Tasmanian raptors, is important to us.
