Yes, all of our properties and operations have accomodation for staff. Gordon River Cruises offers a variety of staff accommodation, all located within walking distance or a very short drive of the terminal. Couples may share a double room at a discounted rate.
All accommodation is fully furnished, including bed linen and cooking equipment. Please enquire with our People & Culture team for rental prices.
Many employees, especially our seasonal staff and working holiday makers, come to Gordon River Cruises and our other properties without their own transport. We ask all new employees to make their own way to Strahan to commence induction before starting work – we can assist with transport options if required.
If your assigned staff accommodation is offsite, you will need to arrange your own transport to and from work. Having your own vehicle is useful if you wish to explore the broader area, as there is very limited local public transport.
Our People & Culture team will provide you with more information about induction if you are offered a position with Gordon River Cruises.
Yes, all of our employees are required to wear a uniform. In most cases, we will provide branded items of clothing such as shirts, aprons and jackets at no charge – we ask employees to provide their own appropriate footwear.
Our People & Culture team will provide you with more specific information regarding uniforms if you are offered a position with Gordon River Cruises.
All of our positions are covered by the Hospitality Industry (General) Award 2010. Many positions are casual and are paid by the hour in accordance with their classification under the Award.
If you would like to know more about the rate of pay for a particular position, please contact the People & Culture team member listed at the bottom of the relevant job advertisement.
When you apply for a position via the NRMA website, your resume is uploaded to our online recruitment system and will be reviewed by our People & Culture team. You will receive an acknowledgement email to confirm that your application has been received. Many of our casual positions are advertised on an ongoing basis and do not have a specific closing date, so applications are reviewed as they are received. We endeavour to contact applicants as soon as we can to keep them updated on the progress of their application, but cannot always respond immediately.
If you would like to know about the status of a vacancy, please contact the People & Culture team member listed at the bottom of the relevant job advertisement.
Gordon River Cruises is based in Strahan, which is located on Tasmania's west coast, on the edge of one of the last expanses of temperate rainforest found on the planet. Activities such as hiking, camping, four wheel driving, fishing, boating and sightseeing are popular.
Telstra’s network works best in Strahan. Optus works quite well, but is more reliable in Queenstown and Zeehan.
New employees only need to bring their personal belongings with them to property, as all of our staff accommodation is fully furnished. You may also bring your own bed linen if you wish. We recommend that you bring some warm clothing and sturdy shoes to cater for all types of weather.
If you have questions about a specific position, please contact hr@myexpeditions.com.au.
