The new Gordon River Cruises vessel, Spirit of the Wild is now cruising in Tasmania's west and is offering our guests the opportunity to experience the Gordon River as they haven't before.

Spirit of the Wild is a Tasmanian-built 33.8m catamaran that was constructed in Hobart by Richardson Devine Marine.  She boasts a propulsion system unlike any vessel that has ever graced the Gordon River as a cruise boat before.  Along with twin diesel engines, Spirit of the Wild also runs twin electric motors that allow you to cruise quietly on the Gordon River.  What does this mean?  Well, when you enter the mouth of the Gordon River, making your way into the UNESCO World Heritage wilderness, you'll hear the sound of the larger engines disappear and as you cruise slowly upstream, you'll hear only the faint sound of the e-motors.  Spirit of the Wild's quiet cruising matches the tranquility of this pristine wilderness setting beautifully.

You have the option of enjoying your cruise from your allocated seat but when you're on the river, we certainly encourage you to step outside, either onto the bow or the 360° Viewing Deck to listen to the sounds of the river as you cruise quietly.

Quiet cruising takes place on the Gordon River and when you're on Macquarie Harbour, you'll run on 'boost mode', with electric and diesel engines running in unison.

Combined with our new on board food and beverage experience, showcasing Tasmanian produce and our amazing guides' interpretation, the Gordon River Cruise is better than ever.
